CLASSES AND YOUTH PROGRAMS
After School & Summer Classes
We offer teens an opportunity to learn script writing, storytelling in film, film production, and fine art in our free after-school, Saturday, and summer classes. Students are eligible for Student Service Learning (SSL) opportunities for participation.
We present numerous outreach activities in local schools and community centers including arts and activism projects, guest teaching, our annual Season Showcase and the Montgomery County Youth Media Festival.

AYM Internships
Action Youth Media interns work together to create a short documentary film over a 6-8 week period.
At the end of the program they will have not only have a finished documentary, but also professional film credits. Their documentary will be screened at either the Fall Fest presented or the Montgomery County Youth Media Festival.
Interns must be available for the entire term and participate in the required program hours.
The online application includes:
• Information about your skills and filmmaking experience.
• 2 school teacher references that we will contact if you are chosen for an interview. Please make sure that your teachers know you are listing them.
Summer DOCS Intern Program 2025 - Applications Will Open January 2025
Grade Level Eligibility: 8th - 12th grade
Create Create a short film this summer with the Action Youth Media team at the studio in downtown Silver Spring.

Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis starting February 1.
Final date to apply is April 30.
We will notify students selected by May 10.
*Parents must provide a signed permission form at least once per calendar year for students under 18.*
Interns from past summers are not eligible to re-apply.
Youth Cinema Series
